1950-63: The CULTURE I LIVED

My Take on the World Of Then
You may be saying to yourself as you look at this that it's just a bunch of old guys reliving their lives and of no concern to nobody. When I was between the ages of 9 and 25 one of the things I liked to do was go through attics and basements. In these places I found many things that I had never seen before so it was new to me. Finding out that they were often 20 to 40 years old filled me with wonder and gave me pause. So for many of you, I daresay for most of you, this will be new and fresh. Also it will tell you just how old some of the things that you really dig are. Some of the cartoons go back to 1960. The IGY, which was much of the impetus for the US space program goes back to 1958

searches allow you to get at many topic-realted links in one shot. If I were to try to put links to all the sites that you will find there, this page would be too long to use in a reasonable way

I can tell you this from having lived then: The pervasiveness of anti-Communist "hysteria" and "nuclearbomb-o-phobia" and other such trash, are inventions or gross overstaements of chic-leftist shrinks, sociologists, artsy-fartsies, the slavish followers of whatever degenerate claptrap was fashionable and other unemployable "intellectuals", what George Wallace, in 1968 correctly called "pseudo-intellectuals" with too much free time and money. Aside from a few things here and there, it did not trouble us. We were too busy living the good life and waiting for the next marvel (please note; it is the same malcontents who trashed us for being "shallow", "unconcered" or "unaware". Now, if we were shivering in our boots, how could we be as unconcerned as they criticize us for being? DUH!). This section will grow over time. I will include the cars up to '67 since they were really a continuation of the era, having been concieved and designed much ealier. Generally speaking, this is a Sputnik to pre-Beatles "Space Race" timeframe with a look before that.

Many of the shows almost get a second life as websites, like www.doodyville.com and the Original and best, Mickey Mouse Club, Were I can, I go for the fan sites becuase these folks have the fire in the belly
