SPACE PATROL ORIENTATION PACKAGE

Since Space Patrol is based on material going back over half a century, you are entering a world that had come and gone by the time I was 10 years old, having lasted 5 years (quite a feat for any TV program: Especially one that had no summer replacements or summer reruns as well as a radio version). As of January 1, 2006, I am 60. Granted, I have had to make some changes to "fill out" some of the things and chose to do so in modern terms, e.g. adminstration uses the "C3I" organizational structure [Command, Communications, Control and Intelligence]. Also nearly all of the persons involved in the original have passed on. The trick here is to deal with the passage of time and make things believeable while being true to the original. One solution is the proposed "tech manual" which will incorporate material from the Old Space Patrol Handbook. Another will be extensions of material based on the episodes themselves, the complete current VHS library that you can get now on DVD, and the radio episode library, both of which I own and you can and must as well. Also in the mix is that I was a huge fan and am in contact with likeminded persons and we have a thorough understanding of the sense of the world of Space Patrol) having done the research and located the TV episodes from which I am working as well as keep me pointed in the right direction by being my Space Patrol Commission. Therefore it is a must that you understand the "ORIENTATION MATERIAL", or you will be trying to operate in a very rich but pre-existing world in which you will be clueless (besdies, it's interesting, anyway). This will help you understand things like the Monorail (a staple of the genre) or why the information on the Video Data Monitor looks like old black and White TV while the rest of the site is in glorious living color (that is to give an early '50's touch to things although even in the '80's TV monitors were still b/w)

I am following the lesson from one of my dreams. During the late 1980's, i was dreaming a lot about being in high school and having a blast. They would mix things from the old and then-current. During one of these, my Senior Home Room teacher told me "You can't go home again". To which I said "True, but maybe I can bring home here".
